Forgive
hey you
look at me when I talk to you
you think you don't deserve it
I'm doing this for me
not you
I forgive you your
anger
weakness
hatred
self loathing
low self esteem
selfishness
negativity
laziness
why
why do I forgive you
all these things
you slipped up
let me see you
really see you
no more hiding
my reflection
stares back at me
tears in the eyes
slight smile on the lips
Oh I love this. This is my favorite so far. <3
ReplyDeleteHey, thank you
ReplyDeletefor reflecting back to me
some of the things
I've been feeling :-)
What a terrific message in your post. I do love poetry like this. Thanks so much for visiting my blog today. I will try to come back again during the month.
ReplyDeleteWow. Did not expect the mirror thing at first. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteI have to echo Kelley's comment. At first I believed "you" were talking to someone who had caused you pain. The mirror at the end was unexpected. Good job!
ReplyDelete(Thanks for visiting my blog earlier today. Good luck during A - Z!)
Beautiful and emotional poem.
ReplyDeleteI love the twist with the mirror - it made it even more powerful.
ReplyDeleteWishing you continued success with the A to Z challenge,
Jocelyn
This was beautiful, MJ. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. Why does it seem we're always hardest on ourselves?
ReplyDeleteSweet poem! It's so true that we're always our worst critics. :-)
